ParkBee reopens Stadhouderskade location in Amsterdam's city center, partnering with the municipality to remove 41 street parking spaces and create green infrastructure while providing off-street parking alternatives for local businesses and visitors.

Stadhouderskade Amsterdam transformation

Reopening Stadhouderskade in the heart of Amsterdam

We're thrilled to announce the re-opening of our Stadhouderskade location in the heart of the city: Stadhouderskade, 1054 ES Amsterdam.

This location represents more than just parking reopening—it's part of a broader transformation of one of Amsterdam's important corridors, where ParkBee plays a role in the municipality's vision for greener, more liveable urban streets.

Partnership with Amsterdam municipality

With this location, ParkBee is working closely with the municipality of Amsterdam to optimise city space. The municipality is removing street parking and upgrading the urban environment with walking areas, benches and trees. ParkBee provides off-street parking spaces to facilitate parking needs in the area as the street transforms.

This partnership demonstrates how parking optimization supports broader urban goals. As cities reclaim street space for pedestrians, cyclists, and greenery, they need off-street alternatives that serve residents, visitors, and local businesses. ParkBee provides exactly that.

Benefits for the neighborhood

This transformation means:

More space for residents and visitors to enjoy the city. The street space previously dedicated to 41 parked cars becomes walking areas and green infrastructure that everyone can enjoy.

Safer, less congested streets. Removing street parking and implementing 30 km/h speed limits (in place since end of 2023) creates safer conditions for all street users.

A new source of income for local businesses partnering with ParkBee. Businesses that previously rented parking spaces can now turn those spots into revenue through ParkBee's platform, offsetting rental costs or generating additional income.

Amsterdam's vision for Stadhouderskade

There is strong alignment between ParkBee's mission and the municipality's objectives for this corridor.

As Amsterdam states: "We want to turn the Stadhouderskade into a green street, ready for the future. There will be a separate bike lane with a walking boulevard, running from the intersection with Weteringlaan to the Museum Bridge. The walking boulevard will be a pleasant path along the water, with benches, beautiful street lamps, and lots of greenery."

The municipality has been clear about prioritizing alternative mobility: "Since the end of 2023, the speed limit on the Stadhouderskade has been 30 kilometers per hour. There will also be additional street-side parking spaces for bicycles in the direction of Frans Halsstraat. In total, there will be 182 bicycle parking spaces—up from 102. We have removed 41 car parking spaces."

How ParkBee supports urban transformation

This project exemplifies how ParkBee enables cities to reclaim street space without eliminating parking access entirely. By providing off-street alternatives through our platform, we help cities achieve their sustainability and livability goals while maintaining parking availability for those who need it.

The 41 car parking spaces removed from Stadhouderskade don't disappear—they're replaced by convenient off-street capacity accessible through ParkBee's network. Visitors and residents can still park in the area, but now the street itself prioritizes pedestrians, cyclists, and green space.

For local businesses, this creates opportunity. Rather than street parking they can't control or monetize, they can partner with ParkBee to turn rented parking spaces into revenue-generating assets. Businesses with parking can offset rental costs or generate additional income by connecting to ParkBee's demand network.

Contributing to better cities every day

We're pleased that ParkBee contributes to better cities every day through partnerships like this one with Amsterdam municipality.

Urban transformation requires collaboration between municipalities setting vision and policies, and private partners like ParkBee providing the technology and operations that make those visions practical. Stadhouderskade demonstrates this collaboration working effectively.

As more European cities prioritize pedestrian-friendly streets, cycling infrastructure, and green space, they'll face the same question Amsterdam addressed: how do we reduce street parking while maintaining access for those who need it? ParkBee's model provides an answer—efficient off-street alternatives that serve urban needs without compromising livability goals.

The transformation of Stadhouderskade creates both challenges and opportunities for local businesses. If you previously relied on street parking that's now removed, ParkBee provides convenient alternatives. If you rent parking spaces, we can help you generate income from that capacity.Want more flexibility in your current parking rental? We can show you how ParkBee turns rented spaces into revenue-generating assets while maintaining access for your business needs.
